"Your body is either in 'fight or flight' mode or 'rest and repair' mode based on your perception of life. Changing your perception can alter the signals sent to the cells in your body."

GRATITUDE

1. Goal Achievement: Practicing gratitude can empower the minds of basketball players to focus on positive aspects, which can enhance their motivation and drive to achieve their goals, both on and off the court.

2. Efficiency: Gratitude helps players maintain a positive outlook, allowing them to see the good in the world even in challenging situations. This positive mindset can improve their efficiency and decision-making on the basketball court.

3. Adaptability: Gratitude encourages players to be more present and appreciate the moment, which can enhance their adaptability during games. Being in the moment allows them to react effectively to changing circumstances and make better decisions during play.

Life isn't just about the highs and lows, wins and losses.

The journey itself must be the focus, as there is no ultimate destination or specific goal. It's like rivers flowing to the never-full sea.

Consistently doing small things and reaping their benefits is key. Embrace the journey, fall in love with the process.

Expect both highs and lows, some lower than you can imagine. These lows make you appreciate the high points even more.

Rather than riding an emotional roller coaster, aim for a smoother journey. Choose the kiddie coaster with smaller ups and downs to avoid being constantly pulled by circumstances.

I understand. In youth sports, often the initial goal is to make the team. Once achieved, the desire for more playing time arises. And as you gain more playing time, you strive to become the main player. Goals keep growing, regardless of the level.

For example, consider winning an NBA championship ring and wanting another. The crucial part is enjoying the journey and the process. I share this advice with you and remind myself that time is on our side.

Here's what I do: TAKE NOTES

I watch numerous NBA games, noting moves I want to incorporate. I record them and create a list in my notes to work on after each practice. Once I feel comfortable, I start trying them in real practices, learning from both failures and occasional successes.

I approach teammates who fell for the move and ask for their insights, storing this data for future attempts.

The key here is not worrying about the results, as it all contributes to reaching my destination. When the move starts working consistently in practice, it's time to try it in a game. Expect failures but gather data for improvement.

This is why I watch so much film; it provides free data for the brain to learn patterns, connecting them to past experiences.
