The Power of Importance đ

How Your Focus Determines Basketball Success
Every day, we unconsciously decide what is important and what isnâtâwhether in training, games, or life. These decisions dictate where our attention goes and, ultimately, where success follows. In basketball, this is the difference between players who make it to the next level and those who stay stuck.
The Attention Game in Basketball
Look at the greatest playersâKobe, MJ, LeBron. What set them apart wasnât just talent; it was what they chose to make important.
Some players focus on highlights. The greats focus on fundamentals.
Some focus on playing time. The greats focus on systems.
Some focus on looking good. The greats focus on the work with no emotion.
Whatever you make important, determines your success.
Where Your Attention Goes, Your Energy Flows
One of the biggest traps in basketball is focusing on the wrong things. If you spend your energy complaining about bad calls, worrying about your stat line, or getting frustrated with a coach, thatâs where your mind stays. And when your mind is distracted, your game suffers.
If you focus on the refs, youâll miss the next defensive rotation.
If you focus on a missed shot, youâll hesitate on the next one.
If you focus on what you canât control, your energy wonât be on what you can.
The best players keep their attention on the gameâthe next play, the next possession, the next opportunity. They understand that distractions lead to turnovers, missed shots, and bad decisions. The more locked in you are on winning plays, the better you perform.
See the Game Objectively
Most players enter a game with emotions driving them:
You want to score more.
You want to prove yourself to the coach.
You want more money, a better contract, more playing time.
But at the core, all of that is just chasing an emotion. Instead of looking at the game from an emotional standpoint, see it objectively, as if no emotions were involved.
What if you already had the contract? What if you already had the success you were chasing? Would you still press? Would you still force bad shots? Or would you play freely, making the right reads, letting the game come to you?
The key is to feel that emotion nowâthe feeling of success, confidence, and controlâbefore the results show up. Once you start believing in that reality, your actions will follow, and the game will come to you naturally.
Kobeâs Focus: The Daily Reps, Not the Results

Kobe Bryant was obsessed with the work. He didnât fixate on game-day resultsâhe focused on the daily reps, the consistency of getting better every single day. He understood that some games would be great and some wouldnât, but the work never wavered.
He showed up before sunrise.
He took thousands of shots, even after bad games.
He focused on outworking everyone, not just outperforming them.
Thatâs the key: If you stay locked in on the work, not just the outcome, your dreams and desires will come to fruition. You donât control whether you have a good or bad game, but you do control how much work you put in daily. And over time, that consistency is what separates the good from the great.
Final Thought
Where your attention goes, your energy flows. Stop chasing the emotionâfeel it now. Step into your greatness before the world sees it, and soon enough, it will become your reality.
Faith + Consistency⢠is the formula.
Whatâs one thing you can start making more important in your game today?
Q&A â
@sightlight4022 on YouTube askedâŚ

âBesides winning an NBA championship and a EuroLeague championship, some of the most memorable moments in my career have been the ones shared with my teammates during bus or plane ridesâexperiencing the highs and lows together. Whether itâs getting chewed out by the coach and being forced to stay at the hotel for extra film sessions or celebrating a big Win or a Championship in the locker room, those moments are special!
These unique experiences in the locker room, which are far different from a typical nine-to-five work environment, are what Iâll miss the most when I'm done playing basketball!â
God Bless! Faith + Consistencyâ˘

YouTube Journeyâś
The Road to the Play-offs (or âPlay-insâ) continues and we have a hard road ahead of us. It begins with our home game against Alba Berlin after our Euroleague break. This is what weâd call a âTrap Gameâ. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Everyone assumes weâll win. Itâs easy to let our guard down considering theyâre in last place but as we know in Euroleague, Every Game Matters.
