🧠🏀JJ Redick biggest pet peeve as a Coach

📋Do you forget the play after a timeout?

Hello, writing from Vitoria, Spain, basketball is a global game that rewards hard work and dedication. Amidst the intensity of a game, it's crucial to calm the mind and focus, particularly during timeouts when coaches draw up plays. In the second episode of "Mind the Game," JJ Redick and LeBron discussed a method to ensure players never forget plays after a timeout. Stay tuned for the secret at the end. 🔮

Q&A ❓

How many times a day should you workout?

This question pops up a lot on social media.

Personally, I'm not one for just casually hitting the gym. It's all about going in with a purpose. I've covered this in detail in one of our earlier playbooks.

During the season, I recommend hitting the weights at least 3-4 times a week. In the off-season, bump it up to 5-6 times. Strength training is vital for injury prevention. In our sport, staying on the court hinges on staying healthy, so protection is paramount.

Skill work should also be approached with purpose. Make sure you're putting in quality reps.

Ready to unlock all my insider tips and secrets for boosting your confidence both on and off the court?

Basketball Tip 🏀

LeBron made some insightful points in his recent podcast. Two things stood out to me.

Firstly, the emphasis on making the right play over pursuing personal glory on the court. He highlighted the importance of prioritizing team success over individual highlights, citing players like Jokic as prime examples of this mentality.

Secondly, his decision to override a coach's play call during a game showed his deep understanding of the game, though it might have been more humble to keep such insights within the team rather than broadcasting them publicly.

Regarding JJ Redick's frustration with his team forgetting plays, the key takeaway is to focus on personal accountability. Focus on where you are on the floor. Look for your name on the clipboard. Next see where you are moving. As you break the timeout go through that list in your head real quick like this:

First: Left side of the floor.

Second: Back green then pop to ball.

Third: DHO then roll to rim.

If you are able to do this then you will never forget a play again after a time out.

Thank you for grabbing your playbook 🙏

We look forward to seeing you next week, unless you don’t want more confidence. 🤔
