Hello, writing from Istanbul. Lately, I've been loving my morning oatmeal with dates – it's delicious! You know, a lot of people talk about wanting to be good at basketball, but not everyone is willing to put in the work. Some even show up just five minutes before practice starts! But to be really good, you have to give up something else. Stick around to find out what LeBron James sacrifices to be great.

Playing basketball games is fun because of the fans and the excitement. But it's not easy to get ready for them. You have to do a lot of hard work before, like exercising, practicing basketball skills, and staying fit during the summer. And as you get older, it gets even tougher because you have more things to do.

In our last newsletter, we talked about routines. How can you make sure your routine stays the same even when there are lots of other things going on?

When I started, I used a chart to track my habits. In college, coaches helped me stay focused because they wanted me to do well. But when I played overseas, I had to do it myself.

You could try using a chart or writing in a journal to help you stay on track.

LeBron James, one of the best basketball players ever, talked about this on his new podcast with JJ Reddick. He said he sometimes has to give up time with his family to be great at basketball. It's hard, but it's part of being really good at something.
