Hey Club!

You guys know I'm all about building a strong mindset. That’s why today I want to share a concept that's really stuck with me:

The best athletes are the ones taking the best showers.

Now, this doesn't mean scented candles, and dimmed lights and all that whoo whoo stuff.

It's letting go and “washing off" the heavy, physical and mental pressures.

After a good game or a bad one, high performing athletes literally wash it off. Once they step out of the shower, it’s done. They’ve left it behind.

It’s a simple but powerful mental reset.

Especially in long seasons filled with lots of pressure and highs and lows.

This year I’ve gotten injured. And if you’ve ever gotten a big injury, it takes a toll on your physical and mental performance.

But learning how to let go during a win, loss, injury, whatever it is, keeps you balanced (and consistent!). You’re more than just your performance on the court. Carrying too much excitement or guilt back home can wear you down. That negative energy can leak into other parts of your life. I’ve found this lesson to be a game-changer in my own growth as an athlete.

Another massive benefit from “washing it off” is staying locked in.

It's one thing to get locked in, but a whole other game to stay locked in.

When the game speeds up, the emotions get high, and opponents throw adjustments your way, it’s tempting to step outside the system and to force plays or try to do too much. But the real challenge is trusting the work you’ve put in, trusting your teammates, and staying true to the game plan.

I wanted to keep this short and to the point today so you guys can get back out there and win. Here’s a quick journal prompt for you to think about:

Journal prompt:
What’s the one thing I’ve been holding on to after my games/ trainings?
How can I “wash it off” this week?

Keep it up guys, cheering you on.

Faith + Consistency
Elijah
